We moved to South Carolina in February 2013 and lived in our motorhome until September 30, 2013 when we moved into our new home. From November 2013, when our “stuff” got here from CT until now, my sewing “stuff” has taken up a good portion of the house. One of the extra bedrooms is home to my longarm quilting machine, the other is home to my fabrics, threads, embroidery supplies and sewing machines, and the dinning room is home to the embroidery machine. We looked into adding a 2nd floor, but that would have been a lengthy (and costly) option. Instead we have decided to convert the 24′ x 24′ building in the backyard into my sewing/art studio…AND that construction has started! We have installed windows along the north side of the building as well as french doors with picture window side lites on the front – replacing the garage door. The front of the building is going to be bricked to match the house, and the plain old concrete floor will become a colorful stained concrete beauty. The ceiling and some of the walls will be covered by beadboard painted white (or maybe distressed), there will be a metal accent wall, and the back wall will be entirely storage covered by sliding design wall doors (Thank you Sarah Ann Smith for the inspiration and idea!) Today the electricians will be coming to start the interior wiring. There will be LOTS of overhead lights and LOTS of plugs.
